Vancouver Island - Victoria

Image
Hi Everyone, We are now back at home after visiting Victoria for 3 days! This was probably the most fun destination of our trip! We walked in a beautiful park/botanic garden that has lots of animals living there! There were ducks (with cute ducklings!), turtles, geese, seagulls, crows, ravens, owls (COOL!!) and peacocks!! The peacocks were beautiful and they were eating seed from this one guy's hand! There was also a children's zoo in the park that had donkeys, pigs, ducks, ducklings (that were all lying together in a way that looked like they were a little puddle of ducks!) , guinea pigs, skinny pigs (hairless guinea pigs), alpacas, budgies, chickens and GOATS!!!! The only ones you could pat were the goats and the baby goats, but THEY WERE SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!  After we went to a dock where they had floating houses and shops! The houses were so colourful and pretty. There was also a heron near the houses, which was cool to see. We also went to a miniature museum! They had beau...

Vancouver Island - Tofino

Image
Hi Everyone, After 1 night in Nanaimo, we took a van ride to Tofino!! If this was a Maori place, I think it would be spelled Te Whino. But it is in Canada, not NZ. Anyway, we had to walk for 1 hour with heavy backpacks from town to our caravan park beacsue there were no taxi companies! It wasn't that bad, but Mum and Dad got us ice cream afterwards. Mum, Lily and I all had double caramel Magnums 😋.  Our cabin is really cool and it looks like a lg cabin! It also has a raised walkway to... A STEAM ROOM!!! Which we are trying out soon before we leave. There is also a playground nearby with cool tire horse swings. There was a cute collie dog playing in the sandpit yesterday, and I found that quite funny. Speaking of dogs, there is a little fluffy dog that belongs to one of the gardeners here; he sits in the golf cart and he is very cute. There is a big tree near our cabin that has a funny face on it, so I also put a photo of it below.  We live right next to the beach here!...

Vancouver Island - Nanaimo

Image
Hi Everyone, My family is travelling around Vancouver Island this week! I will do a series of posts, to tell you about each location. First of all, we took a bus to Vancouver (and we saw some CUTE AS GOSLINGS WITH THEIR PARENTS!!!!!), then a ferry to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island (the ferry was very comfortable, and had nice creamy white coloured seats). It was an okay city, a bit dirty, but we had fun all the same. We ate some fish and chips on a floating restaurant tied to the pier, which was cool and the food was yummy, but no where near as good as Aussie fish and chips and they didn't have potato cakes (I did NOT approve of that part).  Our hotel was pretty nice, and the beds were SOOOO COMFY!!! Since we were in Nanaimo, we just HAD to try a Nanaimo bar! We bought one and cut in into 4 so we could share. It was really good!! For those you you who don't know what a Nanaimo bar is, it's a no-bake slice that has 3 layers, a chocolate cookie crumb sort of one at the bottom,...

Rockit cafe!

Image
Hi Everyone! A few days ago we went to this cool old rock bands cafe! It had really awesome decorations, my favourite was the microphone lights! And yummy food, they have good pain au chocolat and lemonbutter tarts. Yum! We tried to play the arcade games, but they were a bit broken and we didn't know how to play the one we accidentally chose. Anyway, still fun! To get there, we walked up, across then down a part of Whistler mountain and sadly we saw no bears. Write more soon, -Emily

Upcycled Shirt

Image
Hi Everyone! Today my family went to the Blackcomb markets! I will write another blog post about the markets next week when I get some decent photos of the stalls. I got a cool upcycled shirt from a lady who redesigns them herself! What she does is she takes a second-hand shirt, dip-dyes the bottom part (with bleach I think), sews a cute patch on the top, adds another pocket from a different shirt and finally screen prints one of her original designs onto it! The design on my shirt is a mountain in Pemberton, I think. (Pemberton is another province 20 mins away) The other designs were dogs, roosters, horses, ferns and the dictionary definition of upcycled. All the animals were real animals! The horse lives up in Pemberton and is called Angel, I'm not sure about the other animals though. Write more soon, -Emily P.S. If you were wondering/wanted to look up this shop on Instagram the name of the shop is Endure

Puppets!

Image
Hi Everyone, Last week Lily and I went to a puppet making workshop hosted by a ventriloquist. We made some cool puppets! Mine is the orange and brown one and she is called Frappuchino, or Chino for short. She has a new job each week because she is't very good at any of them but she doesn't mind. She actually used to be a hairdresser, and you can see how well that went with the state of her hair... Lily's puppet is called TawnyFrog and she is a loveable, dopey character.
