Ultimate Smores!!!!!

Image
Hi Everyone!!!! The mysterious thing that my aunty and uncle gave me was a chocolate shop voucher! My whole family went out to buy some snacks for our movie night! Lily and I both got double decker caramel smores, and oh my sucrose*, they were AMAZING!!! Lily got one with smarties on it and mine had gummy bears. Mum and Dad got some ice cream, choc peanut butter and maple pecan. It was an amazing night! Lily and I put half our smores in the microwave, and if you've ever seen marshmallows in a microwave, you'll know how big they inflate! Sooooooooooo many thanks to my amazing avunculi**, Juliet and Hann!!!  Write more soon, -Emily *quote copywright to the ethics podcats or kids, Short and Curley ** apparently the word "avunculi" is the plural term for aunties and uncles.

Library Day!!!!!!!

Image
Hi Everybody!! Sorry I haven't written in a while, I've been at a loss for blog-worthy things. I am going to do a special post on Friday because an extremely amazing  aunty and uncle (Hi Juliet! Hi Hann!) have bestowed upon me... oh, I don't want to give it away yet!  Anyway, we went to the library yesterday, and like anytime our family returns home from the library, the books somehow spread ALL OVER the house! Also, since Canada is and English and French speaking country, I got some of my favorite graphic novels in French! Write more soon, -Emily

Art Museum Exhibit

Image
Hi Everybody!! Today my family and I went to a free art exhibit at the Audain Art Museum about female wood carvers on the northwest coast. It was free, because today is a Canadian public holiday, Family Day. Family Day is a day for families to spend time together, so there were activities at the museum like a craft room and a scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt was fun and educational, it made Lily and I pay more attention to the artwork and what they were made of. Some of the pieces were created using moose bone, bear fur, human hair and even old denim! Lots of the pieces had thunder birds in them, which I researched after and i think it's a legendary bird, not a real one. In the gift shop, I bought a T-shirt of my favorite artwork. The colours the artists used were so bold and vibrant, the reds, blues whites, and blacks looked amazing on the wood. This was my favorite art exhibition I have ever attended!  Write more soon, -Emily

Another Ski Day!!

Image
Hi Everybody! Dad and I went up the mountain yesterday morning, and it was an incredible day. It was a blue bird, and the snow was great! With the way our time zones work, our weekend is Fri-Sat! School starts on Sunday! We did that so our school days line up with our online school's classes. Write more soon! -Emily

Family Ski Day!!!

Image
Hi Everyone! We had our first family ski day! It was great! I especially loved the jumps on the side of all the runs, they're great fun! I am wearing the orange jacket, Lily is in the blue and Mum is in the black. Dad took all these photos. After a few runs, we went to the cafe and got a weird hazelnut hot choc that Lily wanted (and I had half). Write more soon, Emily

Sledding and Mistaken Identities

Image
Hello Everyone! Yesterday we went to the Whistler Olympic Plaza to sled! Each winter, they use a big truck to gather all the snow in one big hill, outfit it with some slides and turn it into an awesome sled hill! After some sledding, we went to the nearby playground and there are some photos of Lily and I on the big disk that spins (I don't know it's real name). At the playground, a little girl (around 2 years old) came up to us, she thought that Lily was Elsa! She was sooooo cute!  Write more soon, -Emily (Below the rest of the photos is a video of one of my failed sledding attempts)

SKI DAY!!!

Image
Hello Everyone! Mum and I had our first ski day today! It was great! We stopped at a cafe for a nessesary hot choc and chips break. The hot chocolate was AMAZING and suprisingly, it came from a machine! A hot chocolate dispenser! It was so cool! Anyway, the snow was great, and I had a great day! Write more soon, -Emily

School & Snow

Image
Hello Everybody! We've been doing online schooling for 2 weeks now, and it is VERY different to a physical school! Lily and I have been turning the backyard into a series of offices and secret bases behind all the trees and bushes and creating a toboggan run that runs by all our hideouts! I might include a video tour when it's complete. Write more soon, -Emily (P.S. It's cool to look up from my work and see lots of snow!!)

Library

Image
Hello everybody! Yesterday we walked to the library in the snow! I borrowed 19 books and 1 board game. Lily borrowed 18 books. There are a lot of books that I haven't read before, so I read all yesterday afternoon! This is a picture of me in front of the Whistler Public Library, where I hope to be volunteering soon. It's cool, but I am partial to Wānaka Library and all the incredible people there (shout out to the Library Ladies! You are all amazing!). Apparently, the warmest it will get to here today is -13😮🫢🫣, so today looks like another reading day! Write more soon, -Emily (P.S. I am in the orange jacket, Lily is in the blue)
