London Sights

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday we had a walk around London to see some of the iconic sights we hadn't yet visited. We saw Tower Bridge (super cool!) and London Bridge (anticlimactic), The tower of London (more like a castle than a tower to be honest) and we also rode the London Eye! It was SO TALL! We had a great view of Buckingham Palace, St. James park, Westminster, Big Ben and soooo many beautiful buildings! Westminster and Big Ben are the most beautiful monuments I have seen so far, so I loved getting a good view of them. There were about 11 other people in the carriage with us on the Eye, and I don't think you could comfortable add any more but it wasn't too crowded thank goodness. When we got off, we went and saw a really super tall monument (the monument to the Great fire of London). Afterwards we went to a Sherlock Holmes themed pub for lunch. It had great food and the decor was pretty accurate! I love the Sherlock Holmes books.

A few days ago we also went to the National Portrait Gallery which was the biggest gallery I might have ever seen! It just kept going and going AND GOING. It was beautiful, lots of amazing artworks by Vincent Van Gogh and Edgar Degas and many other famous artists. My favourites were the landscape scenes.  We also saw some paintings by John Constable. We used to have placemats and coasters with his paintings on them! Plus, we found some paintings from the board game Masterpiece, that was super cool! (If you haven't played Masterpiece, it is an old game about art auctions and probably one of my favourite games).

Write more soon,

-Emily
