Yummy Ski Apres!

 




Hi Everyone!

Dad and I went up for a quick ski yesterday, but the conditions weren't very good. If I were to describe the weather in 3 phrases, this is what they'd be-

-Grippy snow

-Low Visibility

-WET

It was extremely slushy and rainy. But we still had fun! After we got down the mountain, we had some apres at Merlins, a really nice apres place with lots of cool things hanging on the walls. They even had the old front of a ski groomer on the wall!!! Dad and I shared a Rosemary Focaccia Pizza, and it was AMAZING! The base was focaccia and the yummy sauce was soaked into the base and it had this balsamic vinegar syrup sort of stuff on it. SO YUMMY!!!! I was also allowed to get a lemonaid (which I think was homemade) and they even had free refills! 

If you ever go to the Blackcomb base at Whistler, defiantly go to Merlins!

P.S. The last 2 photos are of a family ski day the week before. We saw a cool rainbow in a ring around the sun!!! (We had MUCH better conditions that day)

  Hi Everyone! Aprils Fools day was 3 days ago, but instead I celebrated Poisson d'avril! It's the French version of April Fools day and literally translates to "April's Fish"! You celebrate by sticking paper fish to people's backs and hiding them around the house. Sometimes adults give kids chocolate fish too! Here is a pic of a paper fish I hid in my dad's boot. Upcycled Shirt

  Hi Everyone! Today my family went to the Blackcomb markets! I will write another blog post about the markets next week when I get some decent photos of the stalls. I got a cool upcycled shirt from a lady who redesigns them herself! What she does is she takes a second-hand shirt, dip-dyes the bottom part (with bleach I think), sews a cute patch on the top, adds another pocket from a different shirt and finally screen prints one of her original designs onto it! The design on my shirt is a mountain in Pemberton, I think. (Pemberton is another province 20 mins away) The other designs were dogs, roosters, horses, ferns and the dictionary definition of upcycled. All the animals were real animals! The horse lives up in Pemberton and is called Angel, I'm not sure about the other animals though. Write more soon, -Emily P.S. Lily's 12th B'day!!!

  Hi Everyone, Yesterday was Lily's 12th b'day!! She loved what I gave her, socks with ice-cream sandwiches on them and a bracelet that has a QR code that Lily can scan and track a giraffe on it! Her giraffe lives in Kenya. We ate pancakes for breakfast with syrup, whipped cream, fruit and dulce de leche.  We went to a soapstone (a really soft stone) carving class, and I made a tiny inukshuk and Lily made a book necklace. On the way there we saw a plant with very big leaves. Dad took a photo with my hand next to it. Then we ate some poutine and wings at the very first restaurant Mum and Dad ever went to in Whistler (it was in the year 2 BE (Before Emily :) ). We then went to the arcade and had a rematch at Mario karts! Lily won by HALF A SECOND!!!!!!! I WAS VERY CLOSE. Then we got pictures from the photo booth.  Lily's cake was a Nutella cream cake.
