London Sights!!!
Hi Everyone,
Today we went on another walk to see some iconic London sights! We went to see Westminster, Big Ben, the London Eye, St. James park, the Golden Jubilee Bridge over the river Thames and Buckingham Palace! We saw the changing of the guards and rode on the tube subway train too.
Westminster was AMAZING!! It was huge an beautiful. I LOVED it! Big Ben was also huge and beautiful, and we were lucky enough to hear it chime 10:00am! Near those two landmarks there were 2 buskers who were both playing bagpipes just a block away from each other.
The London Eye was MASSIVE!!! We will ride on it soon, but today we just had a look. It was much bigger than I thought!!
St. James park was pretty cool and had lots of birds. It even had albatross! For those of you who have never seen an albatross up close picture a GIGANTIC seagull mixed with a pelican. My picture is a bit fuzzy because they were far away.
Buckingham Palace was rather un-palace-y. I expected it to look like Westminster. It looks kind of Greek with it's columns. There was some signs on the gates that said the names of countries that in concurred (I think) it said Australia, Canada and (no spelling mistake) "Wafrica". Does that mean West Africa or something? I don't know.
The changing of the guards was awesome! We only saw a little bit of it but the police people on horses and the marching band were in view. I looked in the band for a flautist, but I didn't see one. I saw a piccolo player though! I'd love to be in a marching band.
The tube was crowed (sometimes at least), slightly dirty and VERY LOUD AND SCREECHY AND SHUDDERY. If I commuted every day, I'd go deaf it was so loud. Trains are still my favourite mode of transport but the Melbourne trains are much more fun.
Also we went to look at the enterence to the "Paddington the Bear Experience" whatever that is. It looked like Gruebers antique shop! It was pretty cool. Maybe we'll go to the experience.
Write more soon,
-Emily
