Mum's birthday walk and tea!

Image
Hi Everyone, For my Mum's birthday, we went on a walk on the castle walls here in Wales and then we went out for high tea! The walk was really cool, the castle walls for so old and beautiful! We had such a good view of the town and the castle. There were some massive seagulls there too, which was half cool and half scary. The high tea was so yummy! We had little sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones (with jam, butter and clotted cream), teeny creme brulees, macarons, Victoria sponges and edible flowers! It was really nice and I think we are going to start an annual tradition of Mum's birthday high tea. Write more soon, -Emily

Ambleside walks and Christmas Parade!

Image
Hi Everyone, Today we are leaving Ambleside for Wales! This post is about what we've been up to for these two weeks. We've gone on a lot of walks for one! To a waterfall, up a biiiiiiig hill and to a cool cave! The walks here are really beautiful (very wet as well) and I loved walking through Ambleside. We even saw a few tree stumps where people have stuck coins in them! They are really stuck in there tight, too! In the water cave, we saw lots of little fishes but they swam away after a dog jumped in after them. In town there is a river (the water flows from the waterfall we went to see) and there is a tiny bridge with a small house on it! It's super cute so we went to have a look. Yesterday Ambleside had its annual lighting of the Christmas lights around town. Our apartment had the PERFECT view of it all! We watched the parade come down the street and "Santa" on the back of a truck throwing magic dust (glitter I think) which made the Christmas lights around the ...

Loch Ness Adventure!

Image
Hi Everyone, Recently we went of a tour of the Loch Ness! We had a short drive to the docks where the driver told us all sorts of interesting facts out where we are staying (Inverness) and the surrounding area. When we arrived on the dock, we got on a boat and sailed down the River Loch to the Loch Ness. On the way we saw tiny little ducks that were very cute. When we got on the Loch we looked for Nessie, but sadly didn't see any sign of the Loch Ness Monster. We sailed over the Loch (IT'S HUGE!) and I learnt that the Loch is entirely filled by rainwater. Scotland gets so much rain! It was a beautiful day though, so nice that the sailors driving the boat were surprised. We arrived at a castle ruins and poked around in all the rooms which was super cool. Then we went back on the bus to go home. But there was one surprise left! The bus driver took us on a special added trip. He took us to go feed and pat two hairy coos that he knew. They were father and son and they were called...

Greyfriars Kirkyard/ Graveyard

Image
McGonagal Grave Hi Everyone! We're in Invesness now! Before our train here, we spent a few days in Edinburgh and during that time we visited Greyfriars Kirkyard (Graveyard). Greyfriars grave was the front and center grave at the graveyard, perhaps because of it's story. When Greyfriar died, his dog came to sit on his grave everyday until he died himself. The dog was then burried near his owner. It's a nice story, but slightly sad too. It was raining a lot when we went, so in all these photos we are in raincoats. But that's not all! Greyfriars Kirkyard has some plaques which were the name inspirations to many of JK Rowlings Harry Potter characters! The big names in there were Potter, Riddle, McGonagall, Moody, and Black. Many of them were spelled differently that in the books. The Riddle grave even had someone called Thomas Riddell in it! How cool is that? River Ness walk to Leaky's bookshop

Image
Hi Everyone, A walk on the river Ness in Autumn! It's so beautiful. The river is really fast flowing too! We crossed a couple rivers to walk on these islands in the river, and WOW the colours were amazing!  We walked to Leaky's bookshop, the largest second hand bookshop in Scotland! Lily and I both bought books and I have finished mine already (it was the screenplay for the 8th Harry Potter stage play). It was such a cool bookshop and it even had an upstairs. Edinburgh trip

Image
Hi Everyone! Yesterday we took a trip to Edinburgh again. I bought a tartan for my family's last name, and I'm very happy with it! The man at the shop knew so much about tartans! He told us about the Australian tartan (I didn't know there was one!) and about our family's history. It was fascinating! Afterwards we went to a cafe we had been to before and had onion relish and crisp toasted sandwiches with carrot and red lentil soup. Yum! Write more soon, -Emily

Walking up North Berwick Law

Image
Hello Everyone! Yesterday Dad and I walked up the North Berwick Law (a cool hill). It took around 30mins and it was sorta similar to Mount Iron but a bit steeper for those of you who live in Wanaka New Zealand. It was a cool hike and you could see sooooo far in every direction at the top! There was also an old WWII comms base up there and a replicaa of a whale jawbone (they used to have a real one, but it rotted I think). It was a super fun climb; I might do it again if I get the chance, but who knows what will happen. Write more soon, -Emily Going over the super cool stile to get there!
